welcome to another side of the hamptons.
the drake inn. established in 1967. reimagined in 2025.
two miles from uncrowded ocean beaches and nine miles from the downtown Southampton scene … our waterfront property features a pool and lawn overlooking a canal off Shinnecock Bay. at the drake inn, we believe in a laid-back beach vibe and experienced, warm hospitality, including free bikes, filtered water throughout the property, free wifi, smart tvs in every room, sodas + locally sourced snacks upon arrival. and, we are dog-friendly!
book now for summer 2025. we look forward to hosting you soon ….

meet george, one of our hounds, who'd be very happy to greet you (or not, if you prefer!)

hampton bays=sunsets+oysters. the oyster baskets are part of a cornell program where volunteers raise oysters, helping the local shellfish population. as for the sunsets, they are our free, nightly entertainment.

the station bar, at the end of our canal on shinnecock road, is a great local hangout known for its happy hours and live music.

free bikes are available for use during your stay :)

another gorgeous sunset (we could post hundreds of these. seriously.)

hampton coffee company is just down the street from us. easy walk. great coffee, matcha, soft drinks, breakfast and lunch sandwiches.
our docks on the canal with a view to shinnecock bay.

fishing is big here in hampton bays. we can help arrange an excursion on the bays or out to the atlantic ocean.

flower boxes hanging around the pool area.

drive an electric vehicle? there are several tesla chargers 2 miles from our property in a shopping center parking lot. the chargers are rarely full … we know this because we are often in the parking lot going to supermarket, etc. while you’re charging, you can stop by the supermarket, liquor store, pizzeria or deli in the shopping center.

it’s part of the town of southampton.
it doesn’t mind not being recognized as being part of southampton. in fact it kind of likes that.
it’s kind of the new old montauk. (we made that up but it’s not not accurate.)
it’s where traffic to the hamptons starts to bottleneck, but the good news is that you escape the bottleneck before it gets really ugly.
best sunsets, authentic seafood restaurants, uncrowded beaches in the hamptons.
