Dining Options

Below is an evolving list of some of our favorite restaurants in Hampton Bays and Southampton area.

Most restaurants in Hampton Bays are pretty casual and family friendly, including restaurants with full bars and live music.

Southampton tends to be a little more “upscale” with some classic, old-school casual eateries as well.

“Walkable” (under 1 mile)

Whale’s Tale, 78  Foster Ave, Hampton Bays  631-253‑8717

Bright, breezy taco-and-cocktail joint (.7 mile away) with plentiful outdoor seating. Granted, the outdoor seating is on a large parking lot, but it sits next to a marina and canal (parallel to our own Penny Lane canal.) Creative tacos, fresh raw bar offerings, and frozen drinks — perfect for casual evenings and sunny weekends.

The Station Bar, 22 Shinnecock Road, Hampton Bays 631-728-6116

The Station Bar is just down the street .3 miles to be exact on Shinnecock Road. A local institution, it’s known for happy hours from 3-6 p.m., live music, bingo and trivia nights, fresh seafood, burgers, wings and an overall chill vibe. They also have a retail shop called Station Fish and Paddle, that will include water sport rentals, bait & tackle and fishing boat rentals.

Hampton Coffee Company, 31 Shinnecock Rd, Hampton Bays  631-594-1695
Located literally a half a block away, just down Penny Lane at Shinnecock Road, it’s a local café serving small-batch craft coffee, espresso drinks, breakfast sandwiches, burritos, paninis, and fresh-baked pastries. Casual vibe and friendly service.

Amalfi, 32 Lighthouse Road, Hampton Bays Reservations 631-594-2552

This one is .8 mile from The Drake, so you could walk, which might be a good idea, because parking is limited and they rely on a valet system, which can take a while. The food is fine, but it’s the waterfront location and outdoor seating that really shines, with a fun, Italian-seaside resort vibe. Great for a sunset drink. Open for lunch and dinner.

Lighthouse Seafood Raw Bar, 36 Lighthouse Road, Hampton Bays 631-728-5186

9/10 of a mile from The Drake, just before the Ponquogue Bridge to the beach, this is mainly a takeout seafood market. BUT … on Friday through Monday, they have a cute raw bar set up, right on the water so you’re getting the “catch of the day” practically off the boat. Hours are Friday 12-6, Saturdays 12-7, Sunday 12-6 and Monday 12-5 for raw bar, seafood sandwiches and baskets and some non-seafood offerings as well.

Casual/Family

DeRo’s Food & Family, 149 W. Montauk Hwy., Hampton Bays   631-594‑3379

Located east of the Shinnecock Canal in the village of Hampton Bays, Edgewater Restaurant offers an array of Italian fare, seafood dishes, sizzling steaks & gourmet pizzas. You can dine on the deck overlooking Shinnecock Bay, or inside.

Seafood / Waterfront

Also serves salads, non-seafood options like a great burger, and full bar with a dockside breeze. No reservations but they have plenty of outdoor seating where you can grab a drink and wait for your table.

Cowfish, 58 E Montauk Hwy, Hampton Bays  631-594‑3868
Laid-back yet polished waterfront restaurant known for its American steak and seafood dishes, scenic bay views, large outdoor bar, and family-friendly features like a kids’ menu and play area. Brunch is a highlight.

Fancier/Date Night

Note: Most of these restaurants have steeper prices, but that’s generally the case in Southampton.

Calissa, 1020 Montauk Hwy, Water Mill Reservations 631-500-9292

Their website says it’s “Mykonos in the Hamptons” and it comes pretty close, especially if you sit outside. A “scene” with authentic Greek food.
